I woke up Saturday morning ready to make myself a solid breakfast and then do nothing but play video games and watch sports while the snow came down. Then I read the Giancarlo Stanton trade news and went back to bed. Absolutely devastating news if you’re a Sox fan like myself, because what happens next is Dombrowski will go out and sell the farm for an over the hill player who will not only underperform, but will spend more time on the PUP list than actually out on the field. We’ve seen it before. Stanton and Judge are going to be playing 80 something home games in a ballpark designed for little leaguers. There go them Yankees, ruining baseball for everyone again. They might score 6 trillion runs this year just at home. How about Derek Jeter going down to Miami and then just sending their best player to the Yankees for virtually nothing? David Stern would’ve vetoed this in a heartbeat.

Colts at Bills (Bills -3)
Tickets for this game are selling as low as $5.00. Nathan Peterman is starting for the Bills at home against the Colts today. As bad as Indianapolis is, I don’t think they’re bad enough to lose to Nathan Peterman.
Droop’s pick: Colts

Vikings at Panthers (Vikings +2.5)
Cam Newton wilts against good defenses, and unfortunately for him he’s playing one of the league’s top units.
Droop’s pick: Vikings

Bears at Bengals (Bengals -6.5)
On paper, the Bengals should run away with this game. They have the better defense and Chicago’s offense has about as much game as I do in a bar on a Saturday night. In spite of losing Joe Mixon and Vontaze Burfict to injury, I still think the Bengals win this game, although I don’t think it will be by a touchdown.
Droop’s pick: Bengals

Packers at Browns (Packers +3)
I was tempted (don’t read to much into that) to pick the Browns in this game because of Josh Gordon, but Green Bay by 3 makes a little too much sense.
Droop’s pick: Packers

49ers at Texans (Texans -2.5)
Droop’s pick: 49res

Raiders at Chiefs (Chiefs -4)
Josh McCown looked like a hall of famer against Kansas City last week, who will be without their top cornerback Marcus Peters. Carr has never won at Arrowhead, but I think today is his chance, even with Amari Cooper hampered with an injury.
Droop’s pick: Raiders

Lions at Buccaneers (+1.5)
Don’t be fooled by this spread. Detroit looks like the easy pick, but Matt Stafford has an injury to his throwing hand and they stink at running the ball. Detroit’s defense has given up 24 points or more in their last 4 games.
Droop’s pick: Buccaneers

Cowboys at Giants (Cowboys +3.5)
Ben MacAdoo is fired and Eli Manning is starting again! Everything is roses in Giants land..yano, besides the 2-10 record. Can’t say enough how badly the Giants screwed up that entire thing. The NYG defense enters this game dead last in the league. Dallas is going to run the ball early and often today. I just don’t see the Giants offense being able to score a lot of points in this game.
Droop’s pick: Cowboys

Titans at Cardinals (Titans +3)
Pretty straightforward here. The Titans are good and the Cardinals aren’t. Expect to see a lot of Murray and Henry from Tennessee today.
Droop’s pick: Titans

Jets at Broncos (Jets +1.5)
The Broncos are a dumpster fire. The Jets are going to play themselves out of contention for a top draft pick. Not even surprised.
Droop’s pick: Jets

Redskins at Chargers (Chargers -6)
The Chargers have a great pass rush and are playing against a team with an awful offensive line. If you’re reading this, start Melvin Gordon in fantasy. You’re welcome
Droop’s pick: Chargers

Seahawks at Jaguars (Jaguars -2.5)
Russell Wilson is my MVP this year – they’d be a -.500 team without him. He’ll need to do it all on the road against a defense whose main strength is getting after the quarterback. I’ve been the conductor of the Jaguars hype train all season, but my gut tells me Seattle gets it done on the road today.
Droop’s pick: Seahawks

Eagles at Rams (Rams -2)
I picked the Eagles to make a statement in Seattle last week and it didn’t go as planned. Wentz made some terrific plays outside of the pocket, but struggled against a depleted Seattle defense. He faces a tougher test against the Rams this Sunday, where he again will be required to roll out, extend plays, and make throws on the run.
Droop’s pick: Eagles

Ravens at Steelers (Steelers -4.5)
A great rivalry game for #SNF. Steelers Ravens games are always a good time, even though a lot of familiar faces from games past are no longer on either team. An emotional Pittsburgh team playing with injured star linebacker Ryan Shazier on their minds will try to find success against a defense whose top cornerback is serving a 4 game suspension for PEDs. I like Pittsburgh has too much star power on offense for the Ravens to handle.
Droop’s pick: Steelers

Pats at Dolphins (Pats +10.5)
The Pats covered a 16 point spread when Miami came to town several weeks ago. I don’t see the outcome of this game being any different. New England gets Chris Hogan back for his first game action since suffering a shoulder in the middle of the season. Not having Gronkowski hurts the Pats in the running and passing game, but if there’s a team that knows how to adjust it’s Belichick’s Patriots. More of the same this Monday night.
Droop’s pick: Pats
